The Year of the Sonata!

 Hello Piano People!

It has been a long time since I have posted!  I have  been so busy with my 6 grandchildren - soon to be 7!

My two biggest joys:  Grandchildren and teaching piano to all my wonderful students - some of whom are actually my grandchildren!

I am going to start posting more information here. It might be easier for all of us than my random emails!

First of all, I am so honored to be your teacher!  I have been teaching piano for nearly 30 years now. And I learn something new every day.  I enjoy exploring the world of piano music with my students of various level.

This year, the Community Music Center where I do most of my teaching, is allowing me to focus on intermediate through advanced students. I still teach a few continuing beginning classes and labs, but I am primarily teaching one-on-one. Although I miss my beginners and their classes, it is a dream come true to go up a level and explore more complex music.

My students are rising to the challenge!

This year I am dubbing "The Year of the Sonata".  We will be studying sonata form and each student will be mastering a complete sonata or sonatina (a small sonata) to be performed at the end of the year "Sonata Recital"

I will be sharing information about sonata form in their lessons and on this blog. We will even attempt to analyze our sonatas!

Coming up in the near future, are Winter Piano Recitals.  Friday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 16h at 5:30 p.m. Both will be held in the CMC Auditorium.

I will be asking parents to choose a recital date soon. Most of my students have chosen pieces they want to share. This recital will reflect the winter and musical pieces that speak to each student's soul! Plus, of course the mandatory reception with oodles of treats and cookies!

So, stay tuned!

I am excited about this year!

Peace and Joy,

Teacher Zita
