End of Winter Term Piano Recital

Hello Piano People!
Can you believe it is almost Thanksgiving! That means ...

It’s my most favorite time of year - Recital season!

What:  Piano Student Recital
When: Sunday, December 16, 2018
4:00 p.m.
Where:  Community Music Center
3350 SE Francis St, Portland, OR 97202

Please let me know what piece you would like to play. Some students are working on difficult pieces that will not be polished until the end of the year. If so, I could give you a simpler holiday piece to play for the December concert. Let me know! :)

Please invite your family. We love an audience! I sit at the piano with all my students, unless they request otherwise. Music does not need to be memorized. But if it is, cool!  And treats are welcome! Please specify if there are any allergens, i.e. peanuts for our friends with food allergies.

Most of all, enjoy preparing for the recital! This is my favorite part about teaching!

Have a wonderful week piano people!

End of Year Piano Recital, Summer Term and More

Greetings Piano People!

I posted recently that spring was just around the corner. However, today it is windy and pouring down rain. Ah, but it is Portland!  Sunshine, singing birds and flowers are sure to make their appearance soon!

I want to remind you of our upcoming end of the year recital. There is a 4:30 session and 6:00 p.m. session. Students can play for either, but I prefer younger, more beginning students at the 4:30 program. As usual, invite your family and bring treats to share!

What:  Piano Student Recital
When: Sunday, June 3, 2018
Session 1: 4:30 p.m.
Session 2: 6:00 p.m.
Where:  Community Music Center
3350 SE Francis St, Portland, OR 97202

The end of spring term will be the week after the recital.

This summer, I will not be doing home visit piano lessons. Many of my students will be on vacation. And I have decided to spend more time with my granddaughter, Grace, who is now 7 1/2 months old!

I will be teaching group and private lessons at the Community Music Center this summer. Summer term begins June 18th.

I am also teaching Blues Camp I and II at the Community Music Center. Blues Camp I will be Mon-Fri, 6/18 through 6/22; 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Blues Camp II will be Mon-Fri, 6/25 through 6/29; 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

I will be still teaching private lessons at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  I will be putting together my new schedule shortly.

Finally, I am performing in the performance of Bach's Magnificat on May 19th at the Multnomah Arts Center.  I will be playing the organ and accompanying the Francis Street Singers along with a small orchestra, directed by Tracey Edson. I will also be performing several short solos on a portative organ! Would love to see you there!

I also hope to see some sunshine soon!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Peace,

Teacher Zita :)

RECITAL SEASON!

Hello Piano People!

Here we are in November already!  Most people hurl themselves headlong into holiday thinking immediately after Halloween.  I actually heard my first Christmas carol on the radio yesterday. And my Starbucks cup was already in the Christmas spirit!

I think my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. Time with family. Yummy food. Not too much stress.  What'st not to like?

But honestly, you know what I look forward to this time of year?

PIANO RECITALS!!

This year, I am hosting an end of term piano recital for my students at the Community Music Center on Sunday, December 10th.

There will be two sessions:

Session One
4:00-5:00 p.m. This session designed for younger, more beginning students.  There will be a reception at 5:00 with many goodies (bring some too if you're able!).

Session Two
6:00-7:00 p.m. This session is designed for older and/or more advanced students. There will be a reception at 7:00 with many goodies (bring some too if you're able!).

You can sign up for whichever session suits your student and/or schedule.  If you need help deciding, ask me!

Most of my students have chosen a recital piece already.  My beginning students will be chosing this week.

My recitals are fun!  We do not worry about mistakes.  But if there are any nerves, be assured I will be sitting right there next to you at the piano to help!

Students can dress however they are comfortable for being on stage. Some like to dress fancy, some like to just where comfortable clothes (like they wear to school).

Be yourself! :)

I also want to let you know, that I giving one of my family friendly, educational concerts.

I would love to see my students and their families at my concert!  I am really excited about featuring women composers and their male counterparts!

Happy Thanksgiving and Piano News!

Dear Piano Students:

As I ponder what I am thankful for this year, the first thing I think of is my family. Next is you all!  I love teaching piano and I love you all like you are my family!

I am up late the night before Thanksgiving actually practicing.Yes, teachers practice too!

I am playing the piano for a homeless Thanksgiving lunch tomorrow before I get together with my family.

I am going to begin the program with "Imagine" by John Lennon. One of my favorite pieces. And very appropriate for our world today, I might add!

Here is a rough little youtube video of me practicing Imagine on my dinky little keyboard at home:

Also, the end of fall term is upon us!  My last day teaching will be Tuesday, December 13th.

End of term recital is Sunday, December 11th at 5:30. Please come about 20 minutes early. Bring your music, your family and treats to share!

Please let me know if you plan on playing. I love recitals!

Winter term will start up January 2nd.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

Peace,

Teacher Zita
